‘A Soldiers Letter Home’

This project involved the collection of data from the archives of Stoke-On-Trent museum.    Documents from the museum were digitally scanned for the first time and turned into a film.  This was then played as a remembrance piece for Armistice Day (celebrated traditionally on November 11th to commemorate the war and those who fought and died at war) at Stoke –on-Trent town hall and at the Museum. Participants were asked to choose items from the archive and were recorded reading their chosen items.  The items included letters that were written by soldiers fighting in the first world war, photographs, drawings, journals and autograph books (these were given to the soldiers by nurses in war hospitals which captured the immediate thoughts, stories and poems from the soldiers as they were lying in the hospital beds).
